SNOO Grinding, Squeaking, or Jerky Motion: Troubleshooting Guide

A SNOO that grinds, squeaks, or moves unevenly usually needs inspection of the motion-transfer parts before a motor is purchased. Common starting points are the three small motor O-rings, drag or wear at the seven platform-support positions, and the motor bearings.

Safety first: Unplug the SNOO before opening it. Never repair-test with a baby in the bassinet. After reassembly, reinstall both safety clips and complete the first test with the bassinet empty.

What to check first

  1. Remove the mattress and anything loose, then confirm the sound is coming from the moving platform rather than an accessory.
  2. Run an empty-SNOO test and listen for whether the motor continues turning while the platform slips or stalls.
  3. With power disconnected, inspect the three small motor O-rings for cracking, flattening, looseness, residue, or an unknown prior replacement.
  4. Identify the seven platform supports. Older grooved supports use separate large O-rings. The newer overmolded supports do not.
  5. If the motion still feels rough after the O-rings and platform supports are confirmed, inspect the internal motor bearings and alignment.

Why model year matters

2016 and 2017 units use underside access. Most 2018 through late-2021 units use top access and may benefit from the overmolded platform-support upgrade. All 2022 and newer units already use the overmolded support design. Confirm the Date Code and installed hardware before buying model-sensitive parts.

Repair paths

Do not replace the motor from noise alone. A turning motor can be healthy while worn O-rings, support drag, alignment, or bearings create the symptom.

If the result is unclear, send SnoozyFix the Date Code, bottom-label photo, and a short symptom video before ordering a major part.
