How to Restore or Upgrade an Older SNOO
An older SNOO refresh should be chosen by Date Code and by the hardware actually installed, not by age alone. The key distinction is whether the seven platform supports are original grooved supports with separate large O-rings or the later overmolded design.
Safety first: Unplug the SNOO before opening it. Never repair-test with a baby in the bassinet. After reassembly, reinstall both safety clips and complete the first test with the bassinet empty.
Choose by year and installed design
- 2016 and 2017: These units use underside access. Inspect the three small motor O-rings, the seven original support positions, and the early clip and speaker wiring while the unit is open.
- 2018 through late 2021: These units generally use top access. Inspect the small motor O-rings and consider converting original grooved supports to the overmolded design.
- 2022 and newer: These units already use overmolded platform supports. Routine motion service usually focuses on the three small motor O-rings unless a support is visibly damaged.
Restore versus upgrade
Restore the original design: Replace worn small motor O-rings and, when retaining grooved supports, the seven separate large platform-support O-rings.
Upgrade the support design: Install seven overmolded platform bearings with spacers. When that upgrade is installed, the seven large platform O-rings from the O-ring kit are not used, but the kit can still supply the three small motor O-rings and disassembly tools.
Refresh early wiring: On applicable early units, compare the installed clip and speaker wiring with the connectorized wiring kit. It is a preventative option when older wiring is present, not a required part of every O-ring repair.
